Privacy Notice for Adults

How Fame Factor uses and protects personal information about account holders, families, educators and learners.

Version 1.1 · Effective date: 21 September 2026

1. Who we are

Fame Factor is an online times-tables learning service operated by Fruition International Ltd (company number 15518353). Its registered office is 44 Kirkgate, Ripon, England, HG4 1PB. In this notice, “Fame Factor”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Fruition International Ltd when it operates the Fame Factor service. You can contact us at the Ripon address below.

For home and individual accounts, billing, support and use of our public website, we normally decide why and how personal information is used and act as the data controller. Where a school, tuition centre or teacher provides or manages learner information, that organisation will usually be the controller and we act as its processor, following its documented instructions. Ask the school or centre for its privacy notice if that applies to you.

2. Information we collect

Account and relationship information
Names, usernames, email addresses, user roles, organisations, classes, and parent, teacher or learner relationships.
Learning and game information
Assignments, questions and answers, accuracy, response times, sessions, progress, areas for practice, rewards, leaderboard entries, coins and cosmetic choices.
Subscription information
Stripe customer, subscription and entitlement records. Full payment-card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored by Fame Factor.
Support and communications
Support requests, feedback, optional screenshots, the page URL supplied with feedback, complaint records and email-delivery records.
Technical and security information
Authentication cookies, pseudonymised or hashed IP/security data, session events, device, browser and request information, and local preference storage.

3. Where information comes from and why we use it

We receive information directly from account holders, from parents, teachers, schools and centres, automatically when the service is used, and from service providers such as Stripe.

Create accounts, provide learning activities, show progress and administer subscriptions
Performance of a contract, or our legitimate interests and the controller's instructions for managed learners.
Keep accounts secure, prevent misuse and protect game integrity
Legitimate interests in operating a safe, reliable service; legal obligation where applicable.
Provide support, investigate feedback and handle complaints
Performance of a contract and legitimate interests in resolving issues and improving the service.
Keep financial, contractual and compliance records
Legal obligation and legitimate interests in establishing or defending legal claims.
Send service messages and, where permitted, optional marketing
Performance of a contract or legitimate interests for service messages; consent where PECR requires it for marketing.

Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the impact on the person concerned, especially when that person is a child. We do not use learning data for targeted advertising.

4. Who can see information

Access is limited to people who need it. A learner's supervising parent, teacher, school or centre may see their account, assignments and progress. Authorised Fame Factor staff may access information to support users, maintain security and operate the service.

  • Our self-hosted Supabase and PostgreSQL environment on Hetzner provides authentication, databases and application infrastructure.
  • Stripe provides hosted checkout, customer billing and subscription management.
  • Resend supports transactional email delivery.
  • Cloudflare storage and content-delivery services help us deliver files and game assets.
  • Professional advisers, public authorities or replacement operators may receive information where lawfully necessary, including to protect rights or during a business transfer.

We do not sell personal information. We do not sell children's information or use it to show children targeted advertising.

5. International transfers

Some service providers may process limited information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data-protection law requires it, we use an adequacy regulation or approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum, and apply additional protections where appropriate. Contact us for more information about a relevant safeguard.

6. How long we keep information

Learner account and learning data
Deleted or irreversibly anonymised within 90 days after the relevant trial or subscription ends, unless the learner transfers to another active supervising account or law requires longer retention.
Deleted live data in backups
Ages out within a further 10 days.
Billing and tax records
Six years after the relevant financial year.
Terms acceptance and material contractual records
Six years after account closure.
Support tickets and complaints
Two years after closure, unless needed for an active dispute.
Security and audit logs
Up to 12 months.
Marketing opt-out record
The minimum email address and status needed to continue honouring the opt-out.

A controller such as a school may instruct us to delete managed learner information sooner. We may keep anonymised statistics that can no longer identify anyone.

7. How we protect information

We use access controls, encrypted connections, role-based permissions, security monitoring, backups and staff procedures designed to protect personal information. No online service can promise absolute security. Please use a strong, unique password and tell us promptly if you think an account has been compromised.

8. Children's information

Fame Factor is designed for learners, so we apply extra care to children's information. A child under 13 must use an account created or supervised by a parent, teacher, school or centre and must not submit their own email to create an independent account. Users aged 13 or over may create an individual learner account. We collect only what is reasonably needed to provide, secure and improve the learning service.

Our separate Child Friendly Privacy Notice explains this in shorter language for children and should be read alongside this notice, not instead of it.

9. Your data-protection rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK law may give you rights to be informed, access personal information, correct it, have it erased, restrict or object to its use, receive portable information, and withdraw consent. You also have rights relating to solely automated decisions, although Fame Factor does not currently use solely automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

  • Contact support@famefactor.co.uk. We may need to confirm your identity.
  • For a managed learner, contact the relevant school or centre first because it is usually the controller.
  • There is normally no charge. We aim to respond within one month, subject to lawful extensions.

10. Questions, complaints and changes

Contact us using the details below with any privacy question. Please give us the opportunity to resolve a concern. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113.

We may update this notice as the service or law changes. We will publish the new version here and give prominent notice where a change materially affects how information is used.
